BERGERAC DORDOGNE PERIGORD AIRPORT
Le Pays de Bergerac à 2 pas de chez vous
“Bergerac Dordogne Perigord Airport is served from 12 cities in Great Britain, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Dazzling progress
– Bergerac Dordogne Perigord airport started its international career in 2003 with one London–Bergerac flight connection run by the company, Buzz. Then the Irish company Ryanair took over and substantially contributed to its development, increasing the number of flight connections to be opened from Great Britain and more recently Belgium. Another company, the English concern, Flybe, also contributed to Bergerac region’s radius by opening up significant traffic from large provincial cities in Britain. Since April, 2008, Transvia.com, a subsidiary of KLM-Air France, started a new Bergerac Airport service connecting, first with Amsterdam, then from april 2010 from Rotterdam .
London-Luton: this is a new flight connection bound for Bergerac. Last 30th of March, 2009, Ryanair has put a new flight connection into operation bound for Bergerac and from London-Luton airport. This link, 3 times a week, will enable access to a London airport closer to the city centre (30 minutes by train).
Thus, in the space of less than five years, Bergerac Airport’s business has risen from 12,000 passengers to almost 300,000.
This progress has not only been made possible by the drive of partner carriers but also thanks to the determination of local authorities in the town of Bergerac, the Communauté de Communes de Bergerac Pourpre (Community of Districts), Conseil Général de la Dordogne (Dordogne Council), Dordogne Chamber of Commerce and numerous private actors, often in tourism and the local economy. The Bergerac Region: a destination for short stays ! Thanks to these new flight connections, the Bergerac Region can now be considered as a weekend or short stay destination from Great Britain, Belgium and the Netherlands.”
